What a fantastic surprise. We woke up this morning to learn that we had won the Webby People’s Voice Award for Best Travel Website. 

This is exciting for the lonelyplanet.com team. The New York Times has called the Webby ‘the Internet’s highest honor’. And we’re particularly proud of taking home the People’s Voice Award, because that comes from you.

So we wanted to give a shout out – and a huge ‘thank you!’ – to our loyal users. Especially the members of Thorn Tree, who have stuck with us through thick and thin.

And personally, I wanted to thank everyone on the lonelyplanet.com team. They’re continuing to work hard every day. I can guarantee that we’re not resting on any laurels: this just motivates us to forge ahead.
